SECTION 5 - BASIC HYDRAULIC INFORMATION & HYDRAULIC SCHEMATICS
Assembly Instructions for Metric ISO 6149 (MPP)
Port Assembly Stud Ends
1. Inspect components to ensure that male and female
threads and surfaces are free of rust, splits, dirt, foreign
matter, or burrs.
2. If O-ring is not preinstalled, install proper size, taking
care not to damage it. See O-ring Installation (Replace-
ment) for instructions.
CARE TO BE TAKEN WHEN LUBRICATING O-RING. AVOID ADDING OIL TO
THE THREADED CONNECTION OF THE FITTING. THE LUBRICATION WOULD
CAUSE INCREASED CLAMPING FORCE AND CAUSE FITTING DAMAGE.
3. Pre-lubricate the O-ring with Hydraulic Oil.
4. For Non-Adjustable Fittings and Plugs, thread the fitting
by hand until contact.
5. For Adjustable fittings, refer to Adjustable Stud End
Assembly for proper assembly.

6. Torque the fitting or nut to value listed in Table 5-24
while using the Double Wrench Method.
a. The table headings identify the Metric port and the
type on the other side of the fitting. The torque will
be applied to the Metric port.
b. Torque values provided in Table 5-24 are segregated
based on the material configuration of the connec-
tion. 'ALUMINUM/BRASS FITTINGS OR ALUMINUM/
BRASS MATING COMPONENTS' indicate either the
following material configurations:
• STEEL fittings with ALUMINUM or BRASS mating compo-
nents
• ALUMINUM or BRASS fittings with STEEL mating compo-
nents
• ALUMINUM or BRASS fittings with ALUMINUM or BRASS
mating components.
7. Inspect to ensure the O-ring is not pinched and the
washer is seated flat on the counter bore of the port.
