Problem

Possible Cause
Suction line between reservoir and charge
pump, including suction filter, leaking and
allowing air to be drawn into the system,
indicated by considerable amount of foam
in the reservoir
End of return line within the reservoir not
below the oil level
Hose or tubing not properly insulated
Filter or suction line from reservoir to
charge pump is blocked
Control orifice plug is partially blocked
Blocked hydrostatic filter
.Air in system
Low charge pressure
Air in system
Low hydrostatic oil
Blocked hydrostatic filter
Exceeding relief valve pressure
Unable to maintain charge pressure
System contaminated
Faulty pump
Repair leaks
Check and fill the reservoir to the correct oil
level. Used specified oil only
Make sure all hoses and tubes are correctly
routed and secured. Make sure the hoses
and tubes are clear of any metal that will
act as a sound board for normal hydraulic
hum. Insulate hose and tube clamps with
rubber to absorb sound.
Replace filter element and check and re-
move obstructions from suction line
Inspect and clean / replace as required
Check and replace filter element as neces-
sary
Check fittings for air leaks.
Repair as necessary
Inspect filter and hoses.
Inspect charge pump relief valve.
Inspect the charge pump
Check fittings for air leaks between reser-
voir and charge pump.
Repair as necessary.
Check and fill the reservoir to the correct oil
level. Used specified oil only.
Check and replace filter element as neces-
sary
Shift to lower gear
Repair or replace charge pressure relief
valve
Flush system
Repair or replace pump
