I n each case t h e damping of
[he r o t o r is controlled by a knurled adjuster n u t fitted i n t h e twistgrip.
To increase
[he damping, screw i n t h e adjuster until t h e friction is sufficient t o hold t h e r o t o r
i n any position.
Remember that the twistgrip w i l l close immediately t h e
hand
is
removed t o give a road signal i f t h e damping device is n o t sufficiently adjusted.
Maintenance
o f t h e twistgrip calls only for light grease lubrication when assembled.

Cable T h i m b l e .
Unscrew the thimble from t h e twistgrip head. This I s usually
made easier by pulling on the cable adjacent t o t h e twistgrip.
W h e n unscrewed,
the cable simply pulls out of the twistgrip.
R o t o r Sleeve.
Pull back the twistgrip rubber using a pair o f thin, round nosed
pliers.
Remove t h e circlip from t h e head when t h e r o t o r sleeve assembly can be
withdrawn.
Head.
Slacken t h e grub screw is-h~ch secures t h e head t o the handlebar and
withdraw the head.

R o t o r Sleeve t o H e a d . These can be replaced before assembling t o the handlebar.
Lightly grease r o t o r end ring and fit t h e r o t o r sleeve i n t o t h e head w i t h the nipple
housing adjacent t o the cable hole.
Slide t h e retaining plate into position and assemble t h e circlip t o the head.
Roll
back the rubber grip. If a new rubber i s t o be fitted, f i r s t w e t t h e inside w i t h p e t r o l
and then push it smartly over the sleeve. This job
i s
done better after t h e twistgrip
has been fitted t o the handlebar.
T w i s t g r i p
t o
H a n d l e b a r . Grease the swaged portion of the handlebar and slide
on the twistgrip; lock in the desired position w i t h the grub screw.
T h r o t t l e Cable. Holding the outer casing, pull t h e inner wire, gripping it close
to
the cable ferrule w i t h a pair of soft nosed pliers. W i t h the other hand rotate t h e
twistgrip sleeve t o the closed position, thread the nipple end of the w i r e i n t o the
head and slowly rotate the sleeve when the nipple housing w i l l locate the nipple.
When located, replace the thimble cable over the w i r e and screw i n t o the head.
DISMANTLING
(TR5)
H e a d C l a m p Screws. Remove the t w o screws when the t w o halves o f the head
can be taken away.
R o t o r Sleeve.
Disconnect the cable nipple and withdraw the sleeve from t h e
handlebar.
