Removine Tvres
I n n e r Tube. Inflate the inner tube just sufficiently t o round
it
o c t w i t h o u t stretch,
dust it w i t h french chalk and insert it i n t o t h e cover, leaving it protruding beyond
the beads f o r about
4
inches either side of the valve.
L u b r i c a t i o n . Here again it i s a wise precaution t o lubricate t h e beads and levers
w i t h soapy water.
F i r s t Bead.
Squeeze the beads together at the valve position t o prevent the tube
from slipping back inside the cover and push the cover towards the rim, threading
the valve through the valve holes i n the r i m band and rim. A l l o w the first bead t o
enter t h e well of the r i m and the other bead t o lie above the level of t h e r i m fbange.
W o r k i n g from the valve, press the f i r s t bead over the r i m flange by hand, mbving
forward i n small steps and making sure that the part of t h e bead already dealt w i t h
lies in the well of the rim. If necessary, use a tyre lever for the last few inches.
Second Bead. Press the second bead i n t o the well of the r i m diametrically opposite
the valve. Insert a lever a s close a s possible t o the point where the bead passes over
the flange and lever the bead into the flange. at the same t i m e pressing the fitted part
of the bead i n t o the well of the rim.
Repeat until the bead i s completely over t h e
flange, finishing
a t
the valve position.
Valve.
Push the valve inwards t o make sure that the tube near the valve
i s
not
trapped under the bead.
Pull the valve back and inflate t h e tyre.
Check that t h e
fitting line o n t h e cover i s concentric w i t h the top of the r i m flange and that the
valve protrudes squarely through the valve hole. Fit the knurled r i m n u t a , ~ d valve,
caD.
S E C U R I T Y B O L T
The rear t y r e i s fitted w i t h a security bolt and although the basic procedure f o r
fitting and removing the tyre i s the same, t h e following additional instructions should
be followed.
R E M O V I N G T H E T Y R E
Valve C a p a n d Core.
Remove
as
described and deflate the tyre.
S e c u r i t y B o l t a n d N u t . Unscrew the nut and push the bolt through the inside
of the cover.
F i r s t Bead.
Remove
as
described.
S e c u r i t y B o l t .
Remove from r i m
I n n e r Tube.
Remove
as
described.
Second Bead.
Remove as described.
