Rigid Rear Wheel
REAR WHEEL
(P.!G!D FP.AME)
The rear wheel has taper roller bearings and may occasionally require adjustment.
If the machine i s placed on the rear stand, any slackness in the bearings can be im-
mediately felt. The lateral movement should be "hardly perteptible". The bearings
are heid i n adjustment by locknuts and the lateral movement should always be checked
after the locknuts have been tightened. The hubs are packed with grease and only
require re-packing every 10,000 miles (15.000 kms.). The r i m

19" in diameter
(WM2-19) and has a 3.50

tyre fitted. The spokes a r e o f (our different head
shapes as i n the front wheel and this should be noted when making replacements.
The brakes are

(17.78 cms ) internally expanding and
are
located on
a
mild
s t e e l
anchor plate, having a strong external peg which locates in
a
channel in the frame t o
withstand the braking torque.
R E M O V I N G T H E REAR W H E E L F R O M T H E F R A M E
M u d g u a r d .
Disconnect the rear light leads underneath the saddle, unscrew the
nuts connecting the mudguard t o the frame and take OH the mudguard.
TR5.
The mudguard of the TR5
i s
designed t o allow removal of the rear wheel and
it
is therefore unnecessary to remove
it.
Rear Chain. Depress the gear lever to make sure that the gearbox is not in neutral.
This prevents the chain rotating on the gearbox sprocket and falling OH when the
spring link is removed. Remove the spring link and clear the chain from the
r e a r
sprocket.
B r a k e A d j u s t i n g N u t .
Unscrew this nut and remove the brake rod from the
lever arm.
S p i n d l e N u t s . Slacken the t w o rear spindle nuts and withdraw the wheel from
the frame.
