Rear Wheel
F i n a l B e a r i n g A d j u s t i n e n t .
Test the wheel bearings f o r adjustment now chat
the wheel is i n t h e frame.
Any further adjustment should be made before final
assembly.
The r i g h t hand spindle nut should be undone before any adjustment is
made.
B r a k e .
Pull t h e brake lever arm back, thread the brake rod through the pivot
roller i n the lever arm and screw on t h e brake adjusting thumb nut until the wheel
can just t u r n freely w i t h o u t the brakes binding.
If new linings have been fitted, it
may be necessary t o bed the brakes i n before adjustment can be made, allowing t h e
wheel t o r u n freely.
R e a r Chain.
Fit the chain round the sprocket and replace the spring link so h a t
the closed end is facing the direction of chain travel.
M u d g u a r d .
Re-assemble the mudguard t o the frame and reconnect the tail lamp
leads under t h e saddle.
R o a d Test.
Check the working of the stop light and after road testing, make the
final adjustments t o the brake.
REAR W H E E L ( S W I N G I N G FORK FRAME)
This wheel
i s
mounted on journal ball bearings and therefore'requires no adjustment.
Slackness i n t h e bearings can be checked by
f i r s t
placing the machine on the central
stand and then testing the lateral movement which should be hardly perceptible if
the bearings are i n good condition.
O t h e r details are as the rear wheel fitted i n
the rigid frame.
R E M O V I N G T H E R E A R W H E E L F R O M T H E F R A M E
R e a r Chain.
Depress the gear lever t o make sure that the gearbox
is
not i n
neutral.
This prevents the chain rotating on the gearbox sprocket and failing off
when the spring link i s removed.
Remove the spring link and clear t h e chain from
the sprocket.
B r a k e T o r q u e Stay.
Remove the rear n u t and loosen the front nut and bolt.
B r a k e A d j u s t i n g Nut.
Unscrew
this
n u t and remove the brake rod from t h e
lever arm.
S p i n d l e N u t s .
Unscrew the t w o spindle nuts and remove from the spindle,
C h a i n A d j u s t e r Assembly.
Pull t h e wheel back i n the frame a short distance
and disconnect t h e adjuster assembly from the spindle.

clearly indicates t h e method of withdrawing t h e wheel from t h e
frame. If a p r o p stand i s fitted, it is advantageous t o lower it in order t o steady t h e
machine during this operation.
W h e n the machine is at the right angle, the wheel
can be easily removed.
