Set t h e machine slightly o u t

degrees, then tighten all fittings.
Test t h e o u t f i t on the road w i t h a passenger i n the sidecar o r an equivalent load
and ascertain i t s steering qualities. i f possible use a road w i t h a flat surface; i f n o t
available use t h e crown o f t h e road.
If t h e outfit pulls t o one side o f t h e road o r
t h e other, check the amount of toe-in again and make sure that the sidecar wheel is
as near as possible in alignment w i t h the rear wheel of t h e machine.
Should t h e
sidecar have a tendency t o lift easily o n left hand bends, lean the machine m o r e t o
t h e vertical.
If these few precautions are taken during fitting, the rider w i l l be amply repaid i n
comfort and a reduction i n general wear and tear.
CLEANING MOTORCYCLE
A clean motorcycle n o t only gives pride of ownership, but also assists the owner
i n maintaining
his
machine i n
first
class condition.
There are o n t h e market extremely good cleaning solvents l o r removing
oil
and
road d i r t f r o m the exterior of the machine, and they can be obtained f r o m most
accessory dealers. The preparation should be applied w i t h
a

paint brush t o t h e
machine which must be d r y and about
5
minutes allowed t o elapse i n o r d e r that
it
can penetrate the oily surfaces.
It
should then be washed off w i t h water f r o m a
watering can; the reason the latter i s used i s t o enable t h e operator t o direct a
controlled stream of water thus avoiding trouble such as water i n the brakes and
ignition faults. If the air cleaner i s disconnected the carburetter should be suitably
covered t o stop any ingress of water. After completion of this w o r k t h e surplus
moisture should be removed w i t h a chamois leather, and when all surfaces are d r y
a good polish should be applied. For a quick finish a liquid cleaner called "FLAZPOL"
gives excellent results and i s also a good preservative. For a lasting finish a good
wax polish should be used and at each stage of the cleaning, always use soft dusters
