Timing Diagrams
Valve Timing.
Assemble the intermediate wheel i n t h e same manner shown o n
page
57,
f o r y o u r particular model.
P i n i o n and C a m s h a f t N u t s .
Replace t h e pinion n u t (R.H.), followed by t h e
exhaust camshaft n u t
(L.H.),
and finally t h e inlet camshaft n u t (L.H.), which has t h e
eccentric drive peg f o r the o i l pump.
Ensure t h a t these nuts are well secured.
Oil
Pump.
Prime the pump w i t h o i l and
fit to
t h e crankcase w i t h a new joint
washer.
Ensure that t h e washer is positioned correctly and n o t covering any
oilways.
Magneto. Assemble t h e magneto t o the crankcase and secure w i t h the three nuts.
M a g n e t o D r i v i n g Gear.
Fit the gear t o t h e magneto shaft and loosely screw o n
the nut.

Pistons.
If replacing t h e old pistons, they must be fitted t o <heir appropriate
connecting rods.
Lubricate the small end bushes and
fit
the pistons t o the rods.
Carefully insert t h e gudgeon pins until they abut against t h e circlips already i n t h e
piston boss. N o w
fit the t w o remaining circlips and ensure that they are i n grooves. If
i n doubt regardin;? t h e serviceability of the circlips, always fit new ones, the cost o f
