Fitting Spring Wheel
D u s t E x c l u d e r Assembly,
R.H.
Fit the dust excluder w i t h the concave side
facing forwzrds. k s e m b l e t h e centre sleeve spring, sliding portion and chamfered
collar. T h e chamfer o n the coiiar should be towards t h e hub centre.
S l i p p e r R o l l e r ,
L.H.
T u r n the wheel over and fit t h e distance piece over the
spindle. Grease t h e slipper pads and fit t h e slipper collar.
L a r g e C a s t Iron Ring. This r i n g should be fitted over t h e guide box case, so that
it
abuts against t h e inner ring o f t h e bearing.
B r a k e A n c h o r P l a t e A s s e m b l y . H o l d t h e brake slightly towards the "ON"
position b y t u r n i n g t h e brake lever, and tit t h e anchor plate assembly t o the brake
drum.
D u s t E x c l u d e r Assembly, L.H.
Replace t h e dust excluder asembly w i t h the
concave side t o t h e front and secure w i t h t h e t w o screws.
Ensure that the wheel
spindle is i n
i t s
topmost position and the brake anchor arm facing forward.
Fit the
split cotters i n t o t h e groove and t h e frame anchorage lever onto the spindle.
R E - F I T T I N G T H E W H E E L
TO T H E FRAME
T h e re-fitting procedure is exactly t h e reverse of the removal, but the
f i t t e r
should
ensure t h a t t h e anchorage lever tits i n t o the channel o n t h e left side chain stay lug.
D u e
t o
r h e close p r o x i m i t y of the wheel drum,
it i s
not possible t o assemble the
spring l i n k w i t h .the t w o ends of t h e chain on t h e rear sprocket. To overcome this
difficulty,
join t h e end: w i t h a spare link inserted from t h e outside. N o w t u r n the
wheel
so
r h a t t h e spring l i n k can be pressed i n f r o m the inside of the chain, pressing
o u t the spare l i n k i n the process.
