Test the action of the kickstarter pedal, making sure that there is
I
sufficient tension i n the spring t o r e t u r n the pedal smartly and that it is n o t becoming
!
"coil bound" when the pedal is depressed fully. Check that the gear selection i s
i
correct. Re-fill w i t h oil until
it
begins t o overflow f r o m t h e level plug hole. Screw
i
!
the level. plug i n t o the hole and replace the filler cap.

I N S T A L L I N G T H E G E A R B O X
( R I G I D F R A M E M O D E L S )
P o s i t i o n i n g t h e G e a r b o x in t h e F r a m e . Re-fit t h e clamp plates and chain
adjuster t o the gearbox w i t h the chamfered nut on the r i g h t hand end o f t h e upper
stud. Tighten up fully. Fit the gearbox i n t o the frame and slide the pivot b o l t and
clamp b o l t i n t o position. Fit the clamp bolt nut and tighten both bolts slightly.
Screw the frame adiuster bolt end nut i n t o the frame and tighten.

R e a r C h a i n .
Replace the chain over the drive sprocket and fit
the spring link.
Cables.
Fit the speedometer cable t o the drive and tighten up the securing nut.
Screw the clutch cable adjuster i n t o the lug o n the inner cover and
fit
t h e cable
nipple i n t o the clutch lever.
F o o t r e s t Rod. If the removal process was carried o u t as described, the r o d and
r i g h t hand footrest and footrest nut should have remained as one assembly. Enter
the free end i n t o the engine plazes from the right hand side making sure that the
rod passes through the distance tube between the rear engine plates.
P r i m a r y Chaincase I n n e r Cover. Fit the oil retaining plate under t h e spring
plates. Place the engine plate t o chaincase distance piece i n position o n t h e footrest
rod and
fit
the chaincase t o crankcase and over the gearbox mainshaft. Make sure
that the footrest rod projects i n t o the chaincase. Secure the front end w i t h t h e
three screws (not fitted t o TR5). Position the rear chainguard t o the chaincase and
secure w i t h the set screw.
B a t t e r y C a r r i e r a n d A i r Cleaner.
Replace the air cleaner and battery carrier
and secure t o frame and chaincase.
Fit the battery and connect the leads.

F o o t r e s t .
Fit t o spindle and securely tighten the nut.
F o o t r e s t Pedal,
Grease the pedal spindle and
fit
the pedal. Replace t h e spring
washer, plain washer and secure w i t h the nut.
E x h a u s t System.
Re-fit the exhaust pipe and silencer assemblies.
