Determining the IP Address of a Host PC

So that the host PC (e.g., notebook) can communicate with an I/O-IPC on the
LAN, both must be located in the same subnet.
To determine the IP address of a host PC (with MS Windows operating system)
using the MS-DOS prompt, proceed as follows:
1.
Click on "Start" and select "Execute".
2.
Enter the command
3.
Enter the command
4.
The IP address, subnet mask and standard gateway, including the
appropriate parameters, are displayed.
5.
Now select an IP address (taking into consideration the subnet mask) for the
I/O-IPC, which must be located in the same network as your PC, e.g.,
192.168.1.100
Example:
Your host PC has the IP address 192.168.1.2 and the I/O-IPC is supposed to be
located in the same subnet. Therefore, with the subnet mask given below, the first

decimal point): 255.255.255.0
