a. Remove the I/O enclosure from the system-board tray and set it on a flat,
static-protective surface (see "Removing an expansion enclosure from a
system-board tray" on page 131).
b. If a hard disk drive is installed in the I/O enclosure, remove it (see
"Removing a 3.5-inch simple-swap hard disk drive" on page 142).
c. Make a note of where the hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly
cables are attached; then, disconnect them.
d. Press inward on the hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly release
latch; then, lift the assembly off the mounting tabs and out of the I/O
enclosure.
5. If you are instructed to return the hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly,
follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping
that are supplied to you.
Installing a one-bay hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly
To install a one-bay hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly in a system-board
tray or I/O enclosure, complete the following steps.

1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the hard disk drive bracket
and cable assembly to any unpainted metal surface on the outside of the
system-board tray or I/O enclosure; then, remove the hard disk drive bracket
and cable assembly from the package.
2. Place the hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly on the mounting tabs
inside the system-board tray or I/O enclosure; then, press down on the hard
disk drive bracket and cable assembly until the release latch clicks into place.
3. Reconnect the hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly cables.
4. Install the hard disk drive, if you removed one from the system-board tray or I/O
enclosure (see "Installing a 3.5-inch simple-swap hard disk drive" on page 142).
5. If you are installing the hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly in a
system-board tray, complete the following steps:
a. Install the expansion enclosure, if you removed one from the system-board
tray (see "Installing an expansion enclosure on a system-board tray" on
page 132); otherwise, install the system-board tray cover (see "Installing the
system-board tray cover" on page 125).
