Installing an I/O enclosure configured with 3.5-inch hot-swap hard disk
drives
To install an I/O enclosure that is configured with 3.5-inch hot-swap hard disk
drives, complete the following steps.

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines"
on page 123.
2. If the I/O enclosure is installed on a system-board tray, remove it (see
"Removing an expansion enclosure from a system-board tray" on page 131).
3. Carefully set the I/O enclosure on a flat, static-protective surface.
4. Remove the 3.5-inch simple-swap hard disk drive, if one is installed (see
"Removing and installing a hard disk drive" on page 139).
5. Note the cable routing for the hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly
cables; then, disconnect the cables.
6. Remove the hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly (see "Removing and
installing a one-bay or four-bay hard disk drive bracket and cable assembly" on
page 168).
7. Remove the power-supply paddle card, if one is installed (see "Removing a
power-supply paddle card from an expansion enclosure" on page 178).
8. Remove the PCIe adapters, if any are installed (see "Removing an adapter
from the I/O enclosure" on page 151).
9. Remove the PCIe riser-card assembly (see "Removing a PCIe riser-card
assembly from the I/O enclosure" on page 203).
