1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines"
on page 123.
2. If the system-board tray is installed in a chassis, remove it (see "Removing the
system-board tray from a 2U chassis" on page 126 or "Removing the
system-board tray from a 3U chassis" on page 128).
3. If a storage enclosure is installed, remove it (see "Removing an expansion
enclosure from a system-board tray" on page 131); otherwise, remove the
system-board tray cover (see "Removing the system-board tray cover" on page
125).
4. Make a note of where cables are attached to the adapter; then, disconnect the
cables.
5. Remove the screw that secures the PCIe riser-card assembly to the
system-board tray and save it for future use.
6. Pinch the two sides of the PCIe riser-card assembly as indicated in above
graphic and pull the PCIe riser-card assembly out of the slot, evenly with both
hands, on the system board.
7. Pull the adapter out of the connector on the PCIe riser-card assembly.
Note: Make sure that the adapter is pulled out carefully. Improper remove of an
adapter might damage the PCIe riser-card assembly or the adapter.
8. If you are instructed to return the adapter, follow all packaging instructions, and
use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
