• Turn the steering stem lower bracket about five or six
times to the left and right so that the angular ball
bearings seat properly.
• Loosen the steering stem nut 1/4 – 1/2 turn "a".
NOTE
This adjustment will vary from motorcycle to
motorcycle.
Steering stem upper bracket
Install the front forks and steering stem upper bracket in
the following steps:
1) Temporarily install the upper bracket, washer and
steering stem head nut (1).
2) Set the headlight housing brackets. (GSF1200)
3) Temporarily install the front forks.
4) Tighten the steering stem head nut (1).
Tightening torque
Steering stem head nut (a): 65 N·m (6.5 kgf-m,
47.0 lb-ft)
5) Tighten the front fork upper and lower clamp bolts.
Refer to "Front Fork Removal and Installation: in
Section 2B".

Ignition switch
• Apply THREAD LOCK SUPER "1322" to the ignition
switch mounting bolts.
: Thread lock cement 99000–32110 (Thread
Lock Cement Super 1322 or equivalent)
• Install the ignition switch.
Special tool
: 09930–11920 (Torx bit (JT 40H))
: 09930–11940 (Bit holder)
Handlebars
• Tighten the handlebar holder set nuts to the specified
torque.
Tightening torque
Handlebar holder set nut (a): 45 N·m (4.5 kgf-m,
32.5 lb-ft)
Inspection After Installation
• Check the steering tension. Refer to "Steering Tension
Adjustment: ".
