REMOVAL AND DISASSEMBLY
Compressed air can pierce the skin and flying debris from
compressed air could cause serious eye injury. Wear
safety glasses when working with compressed air. Never
use your hand to check for air leaks or to determine air
flow rates. (00061a)

Thoroughly clean area around gearcase cover and tappets.
Blow loose dirt from crankcase with compressed air.

Remove any parts that will interfere with gearcase disas-
sembly.

Remove cylinder heads. See

CLEANING AND INSPECTION
1.
Thoroughly clean gearcase compartment, gearcase cover
and gears in solvent to remove oil and carbon deposits.

Check for minimum cam gear end play. Record readings.

DO NOT rotate camshafts or crankshaft while gears are
removed.
