Install rear fender. See

Install rear inner fender and tighten fasteners to 12-36 in-
lbs (1.4-4.0 Nm).

Connect three oil lines to swingarm fittings and install and
tighten p-clamps to 48-72 in-lbs (5.4-8 Nm). See

Connect positive (+) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable
should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected,
the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which

14. Connect battery cables to battery: positive cable (red) first.
Tighten to 72-96 in-lbs (8-11 Nm). See
MAINTENANCE.
After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is
locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift
causing loss of control, which could result in death or
serious injury. (00070b)
15. Install seat.
16. Check oil level after starting motorcycle and allowing it to
reach operating temperature.
After servicing brakes and before moving motorcycle,
pump brakes to build brake system pressure. Insufficient
pressure can adversely affect brake performance, which
could result in death or serious injury. (00279a)
17. Check rear brake operation.
