2.5.2 PAPER CASSETTE

There are two types of Paper Cassettes, the 150 Paper Cassette and 550 Paper Cassette.
When the parts have the same functions, they will be explained on the basis of the 150
Paper Cassette. However, since the LOW INDICATOR is not mounted on the 150
Paper Cassette, this part will be explained for only the 550 Paper Cassette.
When the paper size is A4 or less, adjust the GUIDE ASSY END 150 and GUIDEs
ASSY SD of the Paper Cassette to the paper size.
When the paper size is greater than A4, unlock the LOCK EXTENSIONs, which
secure the HOUSING BASE 150 and HOUSING EXTENSION 150, pull out the
extensions, and adjust the GUIDE ASSY END 150 and GUIDEs ASSY SD to the
paper size.
When the extensions are returned to the original positions, the LOCK EXTENSIONs
are automatically locked.

Functions of Major Components
GUIDE ASSY SD L150 / GUIDE ASSY SD R150
Adjust the GUIDE ASSY SD R150 to the left or right to accommodate different sizes
of paper. These guides make contact with the left and right edges of paper sheets to
retain the paper in the predetermined position in the lateral direction.
The GUIDE ASSY SD L150 moves in synchronization with the GUIDE ASSY SD
R150.
LOCK EXTENSION
The 150 PAPER CASSETTE can be adjusted to the paper length in its feed direction
by changing the position of the HOUSING EXTENSION150 back and forth. The
LOCK EXTENSION fastens the HOUSING EXTENSION150 to a proper position.
GUIDE ASSY END150
Can be slid back and forth and adjusted to accommodate different sizes of paper. This
guide, set in a position where it is in contact with the rear end of the sheets of paper,
retains the paper in an appropriate position in the back and forth direction.
The paper size setting in the cassette is transmitted from the GUIDE ASSY END150 to
the LINK SW SIZE 1/2/3 via the GEAR SECTOR and RACK SIZE. The three
switches named LINK SW SIZE form a combination of ON and OFF corresponding to
the paper size and transmit the information about the combination of ON and OFF to
the SIZE SWITCH in the GUIDE TRAY LEFT, where the paper size is detected. The
paper types that can be automatically detected are indicated as shown in the following
table.
