2.5.3 PAPER FEEDER

As the Size Switches, ACTUATORs NO PAPER and SENSORs NO PAPER of the
Tray 1 and Tray 2 have the same functions, they will be explained here for only one
tray.
150 FEEDER ASSY, 550 FEEDER ASSY
This mechanism feeds paper from the PAPER CASSETTE to the printer. The driving
force from the MAIN MOTOR is transmitted via the CLUTCH ASSY PH to the ROLL
ASSY FEED and FEEDER ASSY NUDGER, which are components of the FEEDER
ASSY, so that the sheet is fed.
As the amount of paper has decreased as a result of picking up of several sheets by the
ROLL ASSY NUDGER, the roll lowers accordingly. The lowered ROLL ASSY
NUDGER pushes down the lock lever of the PLATE ASSY BTM to the release
position, so that the PLATE ASSY BTM gets pushed up by the spring and
simultaneously the sheets get also raised. The raised paper lifts the SUPPORT
NUDGER so that the SUPPORT NUDGER separates from the lock lever of the
PLATE ASSY BTM, which stops rising of PLATE ASSY BTM.
SIZE SWITCH
This component is equipped with the switches that set the size of the sheet to be fed
from PAPER CASSETTE. The signal for the setting size is transmitted to the HVPS/
MCU in the form of a voltage.
ACTUATOR NO PAPER
When the sheets in the PAPER CASSETTE have been used up, the ACTUATOR NO
PAPER lowers. The flag of the ACTUATOR NO PAPER intercepting the light in the
slot of the SENSOR NO PAPER is dislocated from the intercepting position so that the
light transmission to the sensor is permitted.
SENSOR NO PAPER
The SENSOR NO PAPER detects the presence/absence of paper in the PAPER
CASSETTE by the position of the ACTUATOR NO PAPER and converts the result of
detection into an electric signal. When the light to the sensor is intercepted (when paper
is present), the No-Paper 1/2 SNR ON signal turns OFF.
Operating Principles
SENSOR REGI
When the sheet fed from the PAPER CASSETTE pushes up the ACTUATOR B, the
flag of the ACTUATOR A permits the light transmission to the light receiver of the
SENSOR REGI so that the passage of paper is detected.
CLUTCH REGI
This electromagnetic clutch turns on and off the driving force to the ROLL REGI
RUBBER and ROLL REGI METAL to position the sheet properly.
