8.3 Sequence control when switching the motor on and off
Function description

Inverter states S1 ... S5c are defined in the PROFIdrive profile. The sequence control defines the
transition from one state to another.
Table 8-1 Inverter states
The motor is switched off
Current does not flow in the motor and the motor does not
generate any torque
S1 The inverter waits for a new ON command.
The ON command is currently active. You must ac‐
tivate the ON command again in order that the in‐
verter exits the state.
S2 The inverter waits for a new command to switch on
the motor.
S3 The inverter waits for "Enable operation". The "Ena‐
ble operation" command is always active in the in‐
verter factory setting.

The motor is switched on
Current flows in the motor and the motor generates a torque
S4 The motor is switched on.
S5a, The motor is still switched on. The inverter brakes
S5c the motor with the ramp-down time of the ramp-
function generator.
S5b The motor is still switched on. The inverter brakes
the motor with the OFF3 ramp-down time.
