Working from the opposite end of the damper shaft,
fit the spring and damper sleeve.

3. Thrust washer
4. Spring

Fit the thrust washer.

Lubricate the inside and outside of the bearing
sleeve with a 50/50 solution of engine oil and
molybdenum disulphide grease. Fit the sleeve to the
gear.

Position the gear and bearing sleeve to the shaft,
ensuring the bosses of the damper sleeve locates in
the correct slots in the gear as shown below, that is
with the holes in the gear at 90° to the bosses.

Position a new bearing to the shaft, with the shielded
side facing towards the gear.
10. Return the damper shaft assembly to the press.
Ensuring the bearing is supported under the inner
race, press the shaft through the bearing.

Note:
The spring is compressed as the bearing is
installed. Removal of the shaft assembly from
the press will not result in the bearing, gear or
spring being released from the shaft.

Fit the two split collets to the shaft.
