Final Drive

Removal

Before startin g work, ensure the motorcycle is stabilised
and adequately supported. This will help prevent it from
fa lling and causing injury to the operator or damage to
the motorcycle.
1.
Remove the rear wheel <see page 15- 12).
Do not al low the wheel to rest on the brake d isc, as this
may damage the disc. Support the wheel on wooden
blocks, equally spaced a rou nd the rim, such that the
brake disc is ra ised above the g round.
2 .
Place the wheel o n wooden blocks with t h e drive
sprocket uppermost.
3 .
Gently lever the d rive fla nge from t h e wheel h u b.

Remove the cush d rive ru bber.

Cush drive rubber

Inspection

1 .
Check t h e cush d rive ru bbers for deterioration,
cracks etc.
2 .
I nspect t h e sprocket teeth for wear, d a m a g e a n d
chip�
3 .
Check the wheel a n d d rive flange for wear, cracks
and damage.

Installation

1 .
I nstall t h e cush d rive rubbers t o the wheel.
2.
Refit the d rive fla nge to the wheel.
3 .
Refit the rear wheel <see page 15- 12).
