Fuel System/Engine Management

Function Tests

The system allows the diagnostic software to perform a series of fu nction tests on various actuators in the engine
management system. In some cases it is necessary to make a visual observation of a component and in others, if faults are
present, DTCs will be logged.
The function tests available are:
Function Examined
Instrument Panel
Idle Air Control Stepper Motor
Purge Valvet
Fuel Pump - Priming
Fuel Pump - Continuous Operation
Cooling Fan Controlt
* If a fault 1s detected.
Instrument Panel Function Test
On the diagnostic software navigate to and select the 'FU N CTION TESTS' option.
Click the start button and observe the instruments for the following:
tachometer needle moves t o
the neutral indicator, fuel warning and malfunction indicator light <M ID lights alternate on and off;
coolant temperature increments up to maximum temperature;
coolant warning light illuminates when coolant temperature gauge is at maximum;

end of test. Instruments return to normal operation.

Listen for valve operation/Stored fault code*
Listen for fuel pump operation/Stored fault code*
Fuel pressure test/Listen for fuel pump operation/Stored

Observe the cooling fan/Stored fault code*
