Pinpoint Tests
Test
1 Check cable and terminal integrity:
- ECM pin B 17
- ECM pin A 1 8
- ECM p i n B 1 8
2 Check resistance val ue:
ECM pin A06 to
- ECM pin (ignition coil 1
- ECM p i n (ignition coil 2 ) A 1 8
- ECM p i n (ignition coil 3) B 1 8
3 Check cable for short circuit:
- ECM pin B 17 to earth
- ECM pin A 18 to earth
- ECM pin B 18 to earth
4 Check cable continuity:
EMS main relay pin 5 to any ignition coil Open circuit
pin 2
- ECM pin B 17 to ignition coil 1 pin 1
- ECM pin A 18 to ignition coil 2 pin 1
- ECM pin B 18 to ignition coil 3 pin 1
5 Check cable for short circuit:
ECM pin A06 to
- ECM pin <ignition coil 1 ) B 17
- ECM pin <ignition coil 2) A 1 8
- ECM p i n (ignition coil 3) B 1 8
6 Check relevant ignition coil resistance:
- Ignition coil pin 1 to ignition coil pin 2
7 Reconnect harness, clear fault code and ru n O K
engine to verify fault cleared
