Authentication Configuration (Network Authentication)

Procedure (Initial Use)
The first time you access the Authentication Configuration screen you will be asked to change the
System Administrator Password. The System Administrator password is used to access Tools at the
device user interface, and change settings via Internet Services.
Use this screen to change the default System Administrator password before proceeding to any
authentication configuration settings.
Note:
To configure this feature or these settings access the Properties tab as a System
Administrator. For details, refer to
1.
From the Properties tab, click on the [Security] link.

Select [Authentication Configuration] in the directory tree.
The Device System Administrator Password page displays. In the User Name & Password area,

enter details in the [New Password] field.

Retype the details in the [Retype New Password] field.
5.
Click on [Save]. The following steps will display.
When Authentication Configuration is selected initially (at your workstation web browser, Properties
> Security > Authentication Configuration), Step 1 of 3 for Authentication Configuration will
display.
Authentication Configuration - Step 1 of 3
This screen explains the concepts of Authentication, Authorization, and Personalization.
Authentication - Determines that the person who logs in has given the proper credentials
and is known to the system.
Authorization - Determines what an authenticated user can do, for example, the
authenticated user has permission to use the Copy Service.
Personalization - Adds personal settings for the authenticated user optimizing productivity.
For example, automatically enter my e-mail address to the From field.
Authentication Configuration - Step 2 of 3
This page allows you to select methods for:
Device User Interface Authentication.
Web User Interface Authentication.
Authorization.
Personalization.
Note:
Web User Interface Authentication only needs to be defined if you have specified Xerox
Secure Access as the method of authentication.
Authentication Configuration - Step 3 of 3
This page displays the current status and configuration of Authentication & Authorization and
Device Default State. This page is used for confirming or editing the authentication options that
were established in Step 2 of 3.
When the Authentication Configuration Steps have been completed, click on the [Finish]
button.
