Oscillating Axle Cylinders
The oscillating axle cylinders extend and retract
between the drive chassis and the axle to maintain
a level chassis while driving over uneven terrain.
The cylinders are equipped with counterbalance
valves to prevent movement in the event of a
hydraulic hose failure.
How to Remove an Oscillate
Axle Cylinder
Note: Perform this procedure on firm, level surface
with the boom in the stowed position.
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or the
hose end must be replaced. All connections must
be torqued to specification during installation. Refer
to Section 2, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting Torque
Specifications .
1 Rotate the turntable until the boom is between
the steer tires or tracks.
2 Tag, disconnect and plug the oscillating axle
cylinder hydraulic hoses. Cap the fittings on the
cylinder.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
