BATTERY CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Batteries produce and explosive mixture of oxygen and
hydrogen. Keep sparks or open flame away from
battery.
Battery electrolyte is a poisonous, acidic solution.
Always:
• Wear protective gloves and safety glasses when
working with battery acid.
• Ifspilled, clean up immediately.
• lf skin contact occurs, immediately wash with clean
water.
• lf ineyes, flush immediately for 10 to 15 minutes using
fresh water, and seek medical help immediately.
• If injested, do not induce vomiting. Drink large amounts
of Milk of Magnesia, beaten eggs or vegetable oil.
Seek medical help immediately.

General Procedures

Inspection and Cleaning
1. Inspect battery case for damage
2. Inspect cable connectors.
3. lnspect cables.
4. Check electrolyte level.
5. Check battery Mounting.
Cleaning
1. Disconnect and remove battery.
2. Clean battery, terminals, connectors, mounting and box using a
4-1 solution of water and baking soda.
3. Flush with clear water and let dry.
4. Reinstall battery.
5. Apply battery spray protector to cables and connectors.
6. Attach and tighten cables to specifications.
