a. Place the rotary switch in the "E" position on the MC board.
b. Remove the 2-pin connector of the drum motor.
c. Hold the connector with the flat part of the connector facing up and
the notched part facing down. Put the positive lead of the digital
multimeter on the right connector pin (positive), and the negative lead
on the left connector pin (negative).
d. Power on the printer.
e. Measure the voltage. If it is not about 24V during main unit feed motor
operation, replace the MC board.
4. Check the MC board.
a. Put the positive lead of the digital multimeter on pin 9 of CN22 on the
MC board, and the negative lead on the PG.
b. Measure the voltage. If it is not 24V during power-on, replace the MC
board after checking the output of the DC Power Supply board.
Speed Precision Abnormality
NOTE: Refer also to Chapter 5, "Adjustment Procedures."
1. Check the main unit feed motor control circuit.
a. During power-on, LED LD24 on the MC board should emit a
continuous light.
b. If LD24 blinks or does not light at all, turn VR30 on the MC board
clockwise until LD24 emits a continuous light.
2. Check the drum motor encoder (DME).
a. Place the rotary switch in the "0" position on the MC board.
b. Put the positive lead of the digital multimeter on TP18 on the MC
board, and the negative lead on the SG.
c. While rotating the drum motor axis by hand, measure the voltage,
which should fluctuate between 0V and 5V.
If voltage is not normal, replace the DME after checking the harness.
