Adjusting Feed Motor Speed

1. Unload paper.
2. Use the engine checker to operate the feed motor drive at high speed.
The menu path is BASIC MENU, VOLUME ADJUSTMENT, FEED
MOTOR, HIGH, START.
3. Put the positive lead of the multimeter on TP25 and the negative lead on
TP19 and adjust variable resistor VR29 to 2.5V
emitting diode LD23 is lit continuously (does not flash), which indicates
that the feed motor is rotating and the rotating speed has been phase
locked.
4. Use the engine checker to stop the feed motor for a moment. Now use the
engine checker to operate the feed motor at low speed.
5. Put the positive lead of the multimeter on TP25 and the negative lead on
TP19 and adjust variable resistor VR29 to 2.5V
emitting diode LD23 is lit continuously, which indicates that the feed
motor is rotating and the rotating speed has been phase locked.
NOTE: The engine checker menu has two choices for the main drive: LOW
and HIGH, but there is only one variable resistor for the feed motor.
The two motor speeds are very close to each other, the high speed
being 1.05 times faster than the low speed. The low speed is equal to
the drum speed. Adjust the variable resistor at both speeds as
necessary until the voltages are in the ranges specified above.

Adjusting Drum Motor Speed

1. Use the engine checker to drive the drum motor. The menu path is BASIC
MENU, VOLUME ADJUSTMENT, DRUM MOTOR.
2. Put the positive lead of the multimeter on TP27 and the negative lead on
TP19. Adjust variable resistor VR30 to 2.5V
emitting diode LD24 is lit continuously (does not flash), which indicates
that the drum motor is rotating and the rotating speed has been phase
locked.

Adjusting Tractor Motor Gain

There are three tractor motor adjustments: detent gain, positive (forward)
rotation, and negative (reverse) rotation.
Tractor Motor Detent Gain Adjustment
1. Put the positive lead of the multimeter on TP29 and the negative lead on
TP37 (power supply ground) on the MC board.
2. Adjust VR23 on the MC board to 0 V
3. Use the engine checker to turn on the tractor motor to detent (PDTNT
signal on). The menu path is BASIC MENU, VOLUME ADJUSTMENT,
TRACTOR MOTOR, DETENT, START. Apply pressure the motor axle by
hand and rotate it 90 degrees in each direction.
