When toner level drops below what is sufficient in the developing unit, an
oscillation sound is emitted from the toner empty sensor.
If necessary, replace the toner cartridge.
2. Check the toner empty sensor circuit.
Adjust the toner density sensor (page I–208).
Error Code 2B — Toner Density Too High
Error Code 2C — Toner Density Too Low
CHECKLIST:
1. Verify the toner density setting in the configuration menu.
Through the printer control panel, select the Paper Control menu, Toner
option. Ensure that the toner density setting is "3".
NOTE: If you change the density, it takes about 30 pages for the new setting
to become effective.
2. Check the control voltage from the toner density sensor.
a. Put the positive lead of the digital multimeter on TP44 on the MC
board, and the negative lead on the SG.
b. Measure the voltage. Adjust VR28 until the voltage is 5.5 V
c. If you cannot attain 5.5 V, replace the MC board. If the error persists
after the adjustment, go to step 3.
3. Replace the developing unit. If the error persists after replacing the
developing unit, replace the MC board.
