Site Selection
Select a location for the printer that conforms to the following requirements:
•
The location has a power source that conforms to the requirements
specified on page I–31.
•
The location is within the maximum cable length specifications for the
host computer interface.
•
The temperature range is +50°F to +86°F (10°C to 30°C), with a humidity
range of 30 to 80%. There are no sudden changes in temperature or
humidity, and the printer is positioned away from air drafts caused by
heating or air conditioning ducts.
•
The location must allow 36 inches of open space on all sides of the
printer.
•
Install the printer on a stable horizontal surface. The slope of the floor
must not exceed one degree.
•
The printer is not be exposed to direct sunlight or hot lighting equipment.
This may cause an abnormal temperature rise in the printer and
adversely affect its operation. Shade or screen the printer from such
exposure.
•
Do not position the printer near water faucets, water heaters, or
refrigerators. Also avoid dusty locations.
•
Do not position the printer near combustibles.
•
Do not expose the printer to any corrosive gases or vapors.
•
Do not install the printer in an area subject to heavy vibrations.
•
Ozone is generated inside the printer. Although the printer contains an
ozone filter, the printer should be installed in a room that provides
adequate ventilation. The room should be at least 1,000 cubic feet in
volume, with one air exchange every two hours.
•
Lateral openings in the printer are provided for ventilation. To prevent
printer overheating, make sure that these openings are not covered.
