Confirming The Preheat Lamp Operation

CAUTION
The Fuser R. Cooling Fan should be turned on while performing this
test.
1. Use the engine checker to turn on the cooling fan and check the
preheating lamp. The menu path is BASIC MENU, DEVICE CHECK,
OUTPUT SIGNAL, FAN BLOWER, FUSER R. COOLING, START.
2. Press the ↑ key until you return to FAN BLOWER. Press
LAMP, then press
turns on and off properly.

Confirming The Drum Counter Operation

1. Use the engine checker to turn on the drum counter. The menu path is
BASIC MENU, DEVICE CHECK, OUTPUT SIGNAL, MOTOR
COUNTER, DRUM COUNTER, START.
2. Use the engine checker to drive the drum motor. The menu path is BASIC
MENU, DEVICE CHECK, OUTPUT SIGNAL, MOTOR COUNTER,
DRUM, DRUM MOTOR, START.
3. Ensure that the counter counts properly while the drum is running. Press
the up arrow (↑) until you reach OUTPUT SIGNAL. Press the right arrow
(
) to reach INPUT SIGNAL. The menu path from this point is DRUM
TRANS. CUTTER, DRUM ENCODER, LIGHT (off or on).
Confirming The Drum Surface Potential Sensor
Operation
This procedure confirms proper operation of the drum surface potential
sensor, and the associated circuitry.
Equipment needed:
Drum auxiliary rod (P/N 703531-170)
Dummy drum (P/N 703531-173)
Digital multimeter
High voltage power supply
1. Turn off the printer power.
2. Remove the photoreceptor drum. (Refer to page I–253 for the removal
procedure. Begin with step 1. End with step 15.)
3. Remove the drum cleaning unit. (See "Drum Cleaning Unit" on
page I–262.)
4. Slide the dummy drum onto the drum shaft.
5. Connect the green wire of the high voltage power supply to ground on the
printer.
6. Connect the white nylon connector of the high voltage power supply to the
power stacker connector.
