Overview

This chapter contains the printer main component locations, a system block
diagram, the hidden control menus, and procedures for dealing with paper
jams, numerical errors, and other printer symptoms. The numerical errors are
discussed in numerical sequence by error code, as listed in the chapter
contents.
IMPORTANT
All sensors and motors can be driven and tested using an engine
checker (see Appendix D, "Engine Checker"). If you do not have an
engine checker, follow the procedures in this chapter.

Jam Detection Sensors

Jam detection sensors are located in the following areas:
•
Paper feed section: Sensors PNES, PBFS
•
Transfer, separation, and transport sections: Sensors EPS3, EPS4
•
Transport section after fixing: Sensor EPS0
•
Paper output section: Sensors EPS1, EPS2
The letter designations (A-D) following the "Paper Jam" error messages
match the sensor positions indicated on the control panel, as shown below.
