COPYING CHANNEL PARAMETERS

The Copy Parameters from One Channel to Another routine allows you to copy the parameters from
an existing channel to another channel or range of channels. This routine permits rapid configura-
tion of identical channels. You can also configure similar channels (such as synchronous channels
with different baud rates) by first copying channels and then using the Modify Channel Parameters
routine o enter the differences.
When the Copy Parameters from One Channel to Another routine is selected, the following display
appears.
COPY PARAMETERS FROM CHANNEL # (1-54)
COPY PARAMETERS TO CHANNELS): (1-54) OR (1ST,LAST) COPY
First, enter the number of the channel to be copied from. For example, to copy from channel 1, the
entry would be as follows.
COPY PARAMETERS FROM CHANNEL # (1-54) 1
Next, move the cursor to the following line to enter the channel or range of channels to be copied
to. A single channel is specified with a single channel number. A range of channels is specified by
entering the first channel number in the range, followed by a comma, followed by the last channel
number in the range. For example, to specify a range of channels from 2 through 8, the entry would
appear as follows:
COPY PARAMETERS TO CHANNEL(S):(1-54) OR (1ST,LAST) 2,8
If the first number in the entered range is larger than the second number, or if an illegal number is
entered, the following message is displayed:
RANGE ERROR HIT RETURN KEY TO CONTINUE
The copy occurs when you press the Return key (you can change entries by moving between the
two lines with the cursor position keys before you press the Return key)
When you copy a TID-III type channel, be aware that the TID-III takes up two slots in the shelf.
The next lower slot cannot be occupied nor can the TID-III be configured for the leftmost slot of a
shelf. As a reminder after copying such a channel, the following appears on the display:

ACO ALL CHANNELS

A menu selection in each of the three Modify/Display TDM Configuration menus allows you to se-
lect Alarm Cutoff (ACO) for all channels in a configuration. This prevents channel alarm messages
from entering the alarm buffer; the only alarm messages displayed will be major alarms (those that
indicate system-level problems). Any channel failure that is represented as an alarm message is also
reported by status displays; you may refer to the status displays (available through the Status Scan
or Diagnostic Functions routines).
ACO is set On for all channels by selecting ACO all channels from the Modify/Display TDM Con-
figuration menu. Once you set ACO On for the configuration, you are allowed to reactivate the con-
figuration.
In revisions less than 3.20, once you set ACO On for all channels, you cannot set it off for all chan-
nels simultaneously. You may change each channel ACO individually in the configuration or diag-
nostics display for that channel. In revisions 3.20 and up, there is also an ACO Off All Channels
selection in the configuration.
