Control Functions

Certain special MEGAMUX PLUS functions are selected by depressing the Control (CTRL) key
simultaneously with the X, C, S, Q or P key. Each function is described below.
Control X
Depressing the Control key and the X key simultaneously steps the display back one level to the
menu from which the display on the screen was selected. For example, when the channel configu-
ration display is on the screen, one Control X returns the display to the Modify/Display TDM Con-
figuration menu. Execution of a second Control X returns the Configuration menu to the screen.
Repeated Control Xs will eventually result in the Main Menu being returned to the screen. In cases
where new information has been added through a configuration routine, the operator will be asked
whether the new information should be saved. At this point, the operator may make the new con-
figuration information permanent by saving, or may retain the previous information by not saving.
Control C
Depressing the Control key and the C key simultaneously returns the Main Menu to the screen from
any point in any MEGAMUX PLUS operating routine. This operation must be used with caution;
any new information entered into a display is lost when Control C is invoked.
Control S
Depressing the Control key and the S key simultaneously "freezes" the CRT interface; no further
text is displayed on the CRT screen, and input from the keyboard is not accepted. When displaying
alarm messages in the Alarm Scan routine, Control S should be used to control the alarm display;
otherwise, the screen may fill with alarm messages which are quickly replaced by subsequent mes-
sages.
Control Q
Depressing the Control key and the Q key simultaneously restores the CRT interface to normal op-
eration after a Control S has been used to "freeze" the display.
Control P
The Control P function is used only when the system is configured as a multi-drop terminal system,
with one CRT controlling two or more TDM system links. Depressing the Control key and the P
key simultaneously, and then the identification letter of the MEGAMUX PLUS system, initiates
communications with the system selected. Once communications are established, the identification
letter of the selected system is displayed along with the Main Menu.
