Overview
This section gives a description of the MEGAMUX PLUS system, with emphasis placed on the
system characteristics that you will encounter when operating MEGAMUX PLUS through the su-
pervisory port CRT interface. The intention of this section is to provide background information
that will help you to make informed choices when configuring a MEGAMUX PLUS system. If
you are already familiar with this or other TDM systems, you may want to skip this section ini-
tially, and refer to it only when you need more information on some aspect of the system.
SYSTEM COMPONENTS
Information in MEGAMUX PLUS displays are partitioned into several component categories
that parallel the functions of MEGAMUX PLUS modules (see Figure 2-1). Some component cat-
egories represent the functions of a single module; other categories report the activities of several
modules. Separate status scans and diagnostic routines are provided for each component; alarm
messages are designated as being specific to one of these components. The component categories
are:

Common Set (Transmit/Receive Logic module, Clock Generator module, Expansion
module)
•
AUTO FRAME
•
Aggregate Interface (contained on Redundancy Control module)
•
Power Supply (GPS-8A or DPS-8A)
•
Channel (Data Channel or Voice Channel)
