Diagnostic Functions
Once the particular channel is specified, the status scan for the channel appears, along with the
following diagnostic menu:
ALARM SCAN
CONTROL STATE SCAN
DATA PATH TEST
CONTROL STATE TEST
ACO
Use the cursor position keys and the Return key to select one of the five routines. If you select the
Alarm Scan, any alarm messages for the specified channel are displayed below the status scan.
If you select ACO (Alarm Cut-Off) the two possible ACO states are displayed. Use the cursor
position keys and the Return key to select ACO ON or ACO OFF The status scan reports the state
of ACO, indicating the success of the operation:

Control State Scan and Test

If y ou select the C on trol S tate Scan , the nam es and cu rrent states of N o de M and S control signals are dis-
played. Fou r states m ay be d isp layed for each signal. If the interface type for the channel selects a control
signal to be selected fro m the chan nel interface and m u ltiplexed to the opposite-end channel interface, the
signal state is controlled by the equipm ent connected to the ch annel, an d the curren t state of O N or O F F is
reported. If the signal is forced on or off by the configuration o r b y the C on trol S tate T est (see below ) the
state is reported as F -O N or F -O F F.
T h e C ontrol State Scan presents a dynam ic d isp lay of con trol sign al states. If S E N D (input) con trols are
chang in g states, yo u can see the R C V (output) controls change w ith them . T his presents a pictu re of the
handshaking in volved in different in terface types; fo r exam ple, if a C P U to D ial-U p m odem interface typ e
is used, y ou can see the exchange of R ing Indicator, D ata C arrier D etect, R equ est to S end and C lear to Send
betw een the C P U port and the m odem .
If yo u select the C ontrol State T est, the nam es of each of th e channel's SE N D (input) control sig nals are dis-
played w ith three dots, F -O N or F -O F F , below the nam e, as in the follow ing exam ple:

F -O N and F -O FF are forced states as described abov e.
T h e R eceive (R C V ) nam es an d states are d isp layed below the S E N D nam es and states. If the sy stem is w ork-
ing pro perly , the R C V sig nal states fo r a node shou ld reflect the S E N D signal states for the o pposite node.
F or exam ple, if' th e sig nal in po sition 1 is R T S , and is fo rced O n, the sig nal in N ode S R eceive position 1

indicate the send and receive conditions of these signals.
