Status Line Operating Directions
The top line of the CRT display is reserved for use as a Status Line. For every MEGAMUX PLUS
menu and display, the Status Line contains instructions concerning which keys to use and how to
select and modify information. The following status line, for example, is displayed with the MEGA-
MUX main menu:
ARROWS-POSITION, CR TO SELECT
When the system is performing certain calculations or saving con-figuration information, a message
reporting the operation is displayed.
The middle of the status line displays a set of messages that report important status items concerning
the MEGAMUX PLUS system. The active configuration name is displayed as in the following ex-
ample:
ACTIVE CFG:1/NODE__M/TDM:A
The messages:
MAJOR FAULT
MINOR FAULT
NEW MAIL
may also be displayed. MAJOR FAULT indicates a TDM problem that can disrupt the operation of
the entire system; MINOR fault indicates a problem that can disrupt the operation of a single chan-
nel. These messages are analogous to the Major Alarm and Minor Alarm conditions that are report-
ed by Common Alarm Plus module front panel indicators. When you see either of these messages
displayed, you should refer to Status Scan and Alarm displays for greater detail on the problem.
NEW MAIL indicates that a message has been sent from the opposite-end supervisory port inter-
face using the Mail facility. Select the Mail routine from the Main Menu to read the message.
The time and date entered in the system is displayed on the right-hand side of the Status Line.
Multi-Drop Terminal System
The MEGAMUX PLUS system may be configured as a multi-drop terminal system. This configu-
ration permits a maximum of 8 TDM links to be controlled by one CRT. Each TDM system is iden-
tified by a letter from A to H. Communication with a particular system link is accomplished by use
of the Control P function.

NOTE
If the active configuration reported in the status line is SYNC FRAME, this
means that the sync frame is presently running. No channels are operational
in this situation; the system remains in the sync frame until sync is restored.
If you see this message, you should use the Alarm Scan and Diagnostic
Functions routines to attempt to determine the cause of problems and restore
operation.
