1.
If you are using external test equipment to generate a test pattern, connect the equipment to
a channel interface.
2.
Using the cursor position keys and the Return key, select Aggregate from the Diagnostic
Functions Menu. Select the DATA PATH TEST from the Diagnostics Menu in the same
manner.
3.
When the Data Path Test display appears, the cursor is positioned at the TEST TYPE selec-
tion. Press the up or down cursor position arrows until USER DATA appears.
4.
If you wish to change the loopback point, use the left or right cursor position arrows to move
the cursor to the LOOPBACK POINT selection. Pressing the up or down cursor position keys
alternates the selection between NODE M and NODE S. Once you have chosen the loopback
point, the test is ready to run.
5.
Set external test equipment (if used) to begin generating test data. Return the cursor to User
Data Test and press the Return key to begin the test. The DATA PATH TEST display is re-

6.
When finished with the test, select the DATA PATH TEST from the Diagnostics Menu.
When the test display appears, select STOP TEST. Depress the Return key. The loopback
condition is terminated, as indicated by the Status Scan.

CHANNEL DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINES

The diagnostic routines for the channel cards are the most extensive in the MEGAMUX PLUS sys-
tem. You may select alarm scans, control signal scans, and the ACO state for a channel. In the Con-
trol Signal Test routine you may force the channel control signals to a desired state, and determine
if the action was carried out properly. The data path tests for the channel are determined by the
channel type. Loopback tests with or without internally generated test patterns are available for syn-
chronous, asynchronous, isochronous, or transition-encoded channels. A separate set of tests cali-
brate and evaluate the voice channels.
In firmware releases after 3.00, diagnostic functions will be saved in nonvolatile memory. This
means that if the system is powered down, the channel diagnostic that was in progress, before the
shutdown, will resume.
When you select a channel from the Diagnostic Function Menu, you must specify the channel to
which you wish to apply diagnostics. Use the cursor position key and the Return key to select
CHANNEL from the menu. The following prompt appears:
ENTER CIRCUIT NAME OR NUMBER:
The channel may be specified either by channel number or by the name assigned in the configura-
tion. To select a channel by name, type the name and press the Return key. To select the channel by
channel number, type the channel number, and press the Return key.
036R660-000, Issue 10
NOTE
You may only apply the following tests to one channel at a time:
Data Channels: BERT, BERT with clamp
Voice Channels: RCV dB, Calibrate, VF Idle, Digital
Once you initiate one of these tests on one channel, the system
prevents selection of any of these tests on any other channel. An error
message, ERROR TEST IN PROGRESS is displayed, with an
indication of the channel currently in a test mode.
