CPU to Dial-Up Modem (CDM3)
In this interface type, a CPU port is connected to the Node M channel interface; a switched net-
work (dial-up) modem is connected to the Node S channel interface. The CPU port sends input
signals RTS (Request to Send), DTR (Data Terminal Ready) and OOS (Out of Service - also
known as Analog Loopback/Make Busy) into the interface; the same set of signals are outputs to
the Node S channel interface.
The switched network modem sends control signals DCD (Data Carrier Detect), CTS (Clear to
Send), RI (Ring Indicator), and DSR (Data Set Ready) to the interface. These signals are outputs
at the node M channel interface. Essentially, this interface allows the CPU port to operate with
the dial-up modem as if there were no MEGAMUX PLUS channel between them.

This interface type is the reverse of CDM3 above. A switched network (Dial-up) modem is con-
nected to the Node M channel interface and a CPU port is connected to the Node S channel inter-
face. The CPU port sends SEND control signals RTS (Request to Send), DTR (Data Terminal
Ready) and OOS (Out of Service - also known as Analog Loopback/Make Busy) into the inter-
face; the same set of signals are RCV control at the Node M channel interface.
The switched network modem sends control signals DCD (Data Carrier Detect), CTS (Clear to
Send), RI (Ring Indicator), and DSR (Data Set Ready) into the interface; the same set of signals
are RCV control at the Node S channel interface.Essentially, this interface allows the CPU port
to operate with the dial-up modem as if there were no MEGAMUX PLUS channel between them.
