MASTER/SLAVE SUPERVISORY PORT CRT INTERFACES

In the MEGAMUX PLUS system, there must be a master CRT interface; a slave CRT interface
is optional. The interface is set by a switch on the AUTO FRAME module (refer to the MEGA-
MUX PLUS Instruction Manual, GDC Publication No. 036R360, for switch location and other
information). The master interface supports all MEGAMUX PLUS CRT functions described in
this manual. The slave interface is mostly non-interfering; it displays status and alarm informa-
tion, and allows the operator to send messages to Node M through the Mail routine. If the operator
uses the slave interface to select an interfering routine (such as, the configuration routine), the fol-
lowing message is briefly displayed and then the system automatically returns to the Main Menu.
ILLEGAL FUNCTION FOR NODE S TDM
In the event of a communications link failure, the slave interface takes on all attributes of the mas-
ter interface.
The MEGAMUX PLUS TDM site with the master CRT interface is designated as Node M. The
MEGAMUX PLUS TDM site with the slave CRT interface is designated as Node S. Any infor-
mation reported by the CRT that is specific to either site will include Node M or Node S identi-
fication. For example alarm messages refer either to Node M or Node S. The Node M/Node S
designations are related to the CRT interface only; they do not indicate any TDM timing arrange-
ment. However, it is preferable that the master timing site be designated as the Node M site.
