Overview

This section describes the use of the Configuration routines to create, display, copy and activate
system configurations. The information provided here is oriented towards the operations required
to perform routines; descriptions of purpose and system requirements are intentionally kept brief
to facilitate the use of this section as a quick reference. Refer to Section 2, System Overview, for
in-depth discussion concerning the purpose of the channel parameters and configuration routines.

GENERAL

The Configuration routines select the operating parameters for the MEGAMUX PLUS system.
The operator sets each channel in the MEGAMUX PLUS System, entering the channel type, data
rate, control information, and other parameters associated with each channel. The routines allow
selection of up to three distinct TDM configurations which can be switched in and out of activity
on a daily basis or on specified times and dates. Copy subroutines allow the operator to create new
channel or system configurations by copying parameters from existing con-figurations. Once en-
tered, configuration data may be displayed for a channel or the entire TDM system.
When configuring the MEGAMUX PLUS system, you should remain aware of the requirements
for agreement between system hardware and the entered configurations. The operating system al-
lows you to configure a system that is different from the existing system hardware, to permit you
to prepare system configurations before actual hardware installations. When such updates are
made, the system will warn you of potential mismatches between the new configuration and the
presently installed hardware. To avoid data failures, you should make sure that installed hardware
will support a configuration before that configuration is activated. Section 2 of this manual and
the MEGAMUX PLUS Instruction Manual (GDC Publication No. 036R360) provide more infor-
mation on hardware requirements for the MEGAMUX PLUS system.
