FFI™ FUEL INJECTION
Specifications / Tests
SERVICE SPECIFICATIONS
Fuel System Pressure Test:
Install an in-line fuel pressure fitting PN 2872602. Connect a 0-100 psi (0-690 kPa) gauge to the fuel pressure
tap. Start engine. Gauge should show 20-30 psi (138-207 kPa).
Injector Unit Resistance Test:
Measure resistance of coil inside injector unit.
Ignition Coil Primary Resistance Test:
Connect ohmmeter between coil primary terminal and clean engine ground.
Ignition Coil Secondary Resistance Test:
Connect ohmmeter between coil secondary terminal and coil primary terminal.
Crankshaft Position Sensor Resistance Test:
Measure resistance of sensor.
Throttle Position Sensor Resistance Test:
Contact meter leads to red and black wire sensor pins. Meter should read greater than 3000 Q. Move one meter
lead to green wire pin and move sensor arm smoothly - meter reading should change evenly with arm movement.
Retain meter lead on green wire pin and alternate the other lead to the other sensor pin. Repeat procedure - any
erratic meter reading change indicates a sensor problem.
Air Temperature Sensor Resistance Test / Water Temperature Sensor Resistance Test:
Measure resistance of sensor.
Stator Resistance Tests:
NOTE: Disconnect battery cables before proceeding with this test.
1. Disconnect stator 12 pin connector from EMM.
2. Connect one meter lead to a stator connector #1 and the other meter lead to stator connector #12.
3. Continue checks on all stator connections. (See EMM 12 Pin Connector schematic, Chapter 9, page 9.22).
4. To check for a grounded condition, connect one meter lead to ground wire and alternately connect the other
meter lead to each stator 45 volt wires.
Meter should read no continuity
j
If meter reads continuity, the stator is grounded.
