MAINTENANCE
2.
Place a container under the filter cartridge (2) to catch the
fuel.
3.
Turn the filter cartridge (2) counterclockwise by using the
filter wrench, and remove it.
4.
Clean the filter head.
5.
Coat the packing surface of the new filter cartridge with oil.
6.
Install the new filter cartridge to the filter head.
When installing the filter cartridge, tighten it by hand until the packing surface contacts the sealing surface
of the filter head, then tighten the filter cartridge 1/2 to 3/4 turns.
NOTICE
Do not fill the new filter cartridge with fuel.
Remove the cap (A) at center and install the filter
cartridge.
If the filter cartridge is tightened too much, the packing
may be damaged and this will cause the leakage of fuel. If
it is not tightened enough, fuel will leak through the gap at
packing. Be sure to observe the tightening angle.
7.
After completing the replacement of filter cartridge (2),
bleed air from the circuit.
For the method of bleeding air, see "METHOD FOR BLEEDING AIR FROM FUEL CIRCUIT (4-38)".
8.
After completing the air bleeding, start the engine and check the filter seal surface for fuel leakage.
If there is any leakage of fuel, check the tightening condition of the filter cartridge.
If there is still leakage of fuel, follow steps 2 and 3 to remove the filter cartridge, then check the packing
surface for damage or foreign material. If any problem is found, replace the cartridge with a new one, then
repeat steps 4 to 7 to install the filter cartridge.
9.
Release the lock of engine side cover (1) and close it.
For the machine with rear fender, hold the edge and be sure to close the cover (b).
