5.3 Maintenance schedule and expected component life

5.3.1 Maintenance schedule

General
This chapter details all maintenance activities recommended for the IRBP. It is
based on the maintenance schedule located at the beginning of the chapter. The
schedule contains information about required maintenance activities including
intervals, and refers to procedures for the activities. Each procedure contains all
information required to perform the activity, e.g. required tools and materials. The
procedures are gathered in different sections and divided according to the
maintenance activity.
Activities and intervals, standard equipment
The sections referred to in the table can be found in the different chapters for every
maintenance activity. The table below specifies the required maintenance activities
and intervals:

The battery low alert (38213 Battery charge low) is displayed when remaining backup capacity
(robot powered off) is less than 2 months. The typical lifetime of a new battery is 36 months if the
robot is powered off 2 days/week or 18 months if the robot is powered off 16 h/day. The lifetime
can be extended with a battery shutdown service routine. See Operating manual - IRC5 with
FlexPendant for instructions.
The battery low alert (38213 Battery charge low) is displayed when the battery needs to be replaced.
The recommendation to avoid an unsynchronized robot is to keep the power to the controller turned
on until the battery is to be replaced.
See the replacement instruction for more details.
