PHENOMENON
Black stripe or band of
heavy background.
1. Clean the toner shield glass and the quenching lamp filter.
2.
Check for toner pile-up on top of the development unit.
This may result from overtoning due to dirty ID sensor or ID sensor out of
adjustment.
Another possible cause is gaps in the brush seal.
3. Check and adjust the exposure adjusting plates. (See page 6-6.)
4. Take out the exposure lamp and check it for:
– Discoloration
– Deformation of the lamp filament
In either case, replace the lamp.
