ERROR CONDITIONS
This section describes the conditions that cause errors in the Stylus Pro
5000. During an error the /ERROR signal is LOW and the BUSY signal is
HIGH; the printer pauses and accepts no data.

Ink Low and Ink Out Errors
When the printer is about to run out of an ink, it flashes an ink low warning

and keeps printing. When any color ink runs out, the printer stops printing
—
and indicates an ink-out error. The user must install a new ink cartridge
when this happens. Once an ink cartridge is removed, it should never be
—
used again. Reinstallation of a cartridge that is not full makes ink level

detection impossible and may damage the print head.

Paper out error
When there is no paper in the paper tray or the paper tray is not installed,
a paper out error occurs.

When the printer fails to load a sheet or the PE sensor does not detect
Flashing paper on the paper path, a paper out error occurs.
Chapter 1 Product Description

If an ink cartridge is removed and
re-installed, and the ink sensor detects
ink still in the cartridge, the printer will
keep the previous ink counter value.
If an ink cartridge is removed and


installed again and there isn't much ink
left, the printer shows an ink-out error,
even though there is still ink in the
cartridge.
