48. Secure the ASF with 2 screws (CBS, 3×6), then remove the 3
positioning pins shown in Figure 4-123.

49. Check the gear train again by following the steps below.
Gear Train Check
The ASF is not yet secured; forcibly turning gears will ruin the ASF
alignment. Check gear train operation by following the steps below.
1. Press the ASF stopper lever in the direction of the green arrow in
Figure 4-125, then rotate gear (35.4) clockwise about 5
. The gear will
be difficult to turn.
2. Release the ASF stopper lever, then slowly rotate the paper feed roller
on the ASF in the direction of the yellow arrow in Figure
4-125. Rotate the paper feed roller until it is in the hopper position, as
shown in Figure 4-124.
3. Make sure gear (35.4) slips when rotated clockwise. (See Figure
4-125.)
Positioning Pins
4. Press the ASF stopper lever and rotate gear (35.4) clockwise for 1
circumference, then release the ASF stopper lever.
5. Make sure the paper return levers swing to the front when the paper
feed roller returns to standby position. (See Figures 4-98 and 4-124.)

50. Install the belt tension lever and torsion spring (1.27). (See Section
