CAUTION

Never apply thinner, trichloroethylene, or
other organic solvents to any part of the
printer. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the
printer. For stains, use a cloth with mild
detergent.
Do not use a hard brush for cleaning, it may

scratch the case.
Be careful not to damage any interior parts

when cleaning inside the printer.
When transporting the printer, be sure to

remove the ink cartridges and lock the
carriage unit.

6.2 CLEANING THE PRINTHEADS

You need to clean the printheads if your printout has missing dots,
banding problems, or alignment problems. You can perform printhead
cleaning or an initial ink charging (this also cleans the printheads) from the
control panel or the service program.
Note: See Chapter 5 for instructions for performing an initial ink charging
from the service program.
See Figure 6-1 for a quick overview of these options.
