CAUTION
Make sure the tube ends are facing up as you
remove them; they may be full of ink.
8. Remove 2 screws (CBS, 3×6) securing the FFC reinforcing plate, then
remove all the ink tubes, with the dampers attached. (See Figure 40.)
9. On the left side of the printer mechanism, remove the e-ring securing
the combination gear (36, 36, 67), then remove the combination gear.
(See Figure 4-41.)

REMINDER
The combination gear (36, 36, 67) and gear (49)
are precisely aligned. During assembly, be sure
to install these gears as shown in Figure 4-41.
Mark the gears with a felt-tip pen as shown in
the figure before disassembly.

10. On the right side of the printer mechanism, remove 1 e-ring from the
carriage support shaft.
11. Rotate the bushing at the end of the carriage support shaft clockwise
until the tabs on the bushing align with the cutouts on the frame, then
remove the bushing. (See Figure 4-42.)

12. Remove the carriage support shaft. Don't lose the leaf spring and
washer on the end of the shaft.

REMINDER
During assembly, put the leaf spring on the
shaft first, then the washer (8.2×0.15×15). The
convex side of the leaf spring should face the
center of the printer. (See Figure 4-43.)
